11 Aug FedDev IBI: Investing in your growing business
FedDev has played a critical role in the development of startups from ideas to commercialization. Since its inception in August 2009, the agency has invested $1.6 billion into company initiatives while leveraging $2.6 billion in other funding supports such as investors, international partners etc. FedDev has many funding programs including: an Advanced Manufacturing Fund, Economic Development Initiative, Investing in Business Growth and Productivity, Investing in Business Innovation, Investing in Commercialization Partnerships and Investing in Regional Diversification.
FedDev Investing in Business Innovation (IBI) is a an initiative set up by FedDev to help foster partnerships between investors and early-stage startups. IBI is meant to provide mentorship, entrepreneurial support and financing to help new businesses grow and succeed. IBI support is available for companies in the not-for-profit sector, innovative early-stage startups with less than 50 employees and angel investor networks in Southern Ontario.
Direct Delivery and Third-party delivery:
Along with the IBI program, FedDev has many industry-specific program like the advanced manufacturing fund, helping manufacturers increase production, and regional diversification programs. Third-party options include funds set-up with Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters, Waterloo accelerators and Ontario Centres of Excellence.
